Supergirl Season 3 Far From the Tree Review

Supergirl has tackled its off-white share of daddy problems, and boy do they honey the large returns.

Jeremiah was a major focus of Supergirl Flavor two, and now we've been introduced to both Maggie's and J'onn'south fathers on Supergirl Season iii Episode iii.

I of those stories had a happy ending, while the other ane, sadly, did not.

Let's first with J'onn's journeying to Mars.

For years, J'onn has lived with the conventionalities that he was the last Greenish Martian. When M'gann showed upward, he briefly thought she was one, simply it turned out she was a White Martian. Somewhen, he got over it, but that was a major allow down for him.

He has his family on World, and he loves Alex and Kara like his ain daughters, merely being the concluding of his species is lone. His unabridged family was brutally wiped out, and he causeless he'd never come across any of them again.

Well, that all changed when M'gann begged him to come to Mars.

J'onn'south father is alive.

Not only is J'onn not the last Dark-green Martian, but the one other Green Martian that all the same exists is his flesh and blood. That'due south pretty crazy, correct?

J'onn: My male parent thinks I'yard a coward.
Kara: Then he doesn't know you. 'Cause the man I know has dedicated his entire life to making sure what happened on Mars never happens anywhere else. And then go in there J'onn. Show your father who his son really is.

Of course, it wasn't an immediate happy reunion.

J'onn's father assumed he was just a White Martian in disguise, and really, who could blame him? They've been trying to break him for years; it'due south surprising they never actually tried that tactic earlier.

Thank you to some aid from Kara, J'onn was finally able to get through to him, and he shared a heartwarming memory complete with his own 2 daughters on his birthday.

What happened to his family unit was tragic, but the question is, what happens now?

K'gann stayed on Mars to continue the fight with the resistance, merely J'onn's father came back to Earth with him. Is he going to exist a office of the team moving forward?

They have so much lost time to make upwardly for; it would be fun to see the two of them getting reacquainted while Myr'nn adjusts to Globe. His learning experience could be similar Monday-El all over again.

I'grand non exactly sure how he volition fit in on a regular ground or how long he will stick around, just I hope at present that he's back it doesn't somehow cease tragically.

We finally learned the whole story that went down between Maggie and her dad. He never fifty-fifty gave her a chance to explain before packing a suitcase and abandoning her at her aunt'southward house.

That'south pretty traumatic, and Maggie is a big person for making an attempt to reach out later on all these years.

When he got off that jitney and revealed he'd been keeping tabs on her and post-obit her cases, I hoped maybe information technology would end better than it did.

Why did he come at all if he still wasn't over his daughter'south sexual orientation? He knew he was going to a nuptials shower for ii women, so at that place was a good chance they'd kiss at some bespeak.

Mayhap he told himself he was over information technology, just seeing them together was as well overwhelming for him? Whatever it was, he should take just stayed away rather than risk hurting her worse than he already had.

He did attend, and he keeps a picture of her in his wallet, so perchance at that place is still hope for them to reconcile someday. He says he knows how to Google, so how about finding a therapist to aid work through his problems and acquire to embrace his daughter for who she is?

How long can Alex keep lying to herself? She wants kids, and information technology seems like she wants them pretty badly. Is she willing to give that upwards to be with Maggie?

She might think she is, but if she'south not honest with herself, she'll wake up one day regretting her choices. Alas, we know this will mean the end of Sanvers.

It'south sad, but it'southward a real effect that couples confront all the time. They love each other, but they want dissimilar things. Unless i of them changes her listen and can be happy with that decision, the relationship is doomed.

When Maggie leaves, Alex will exist devastated for awhile, but hopefully, she will find happiness someday with someone new who wants a family with her.

Final thoughts:

• J'onn'south classic car/spaceship was amazing. Also, information technology's funny how concerned Kara was about the lack of seatbelts considering she's indestructible.

• Kara driving said car into White Martian headquarters blasting Britney Spears was the laugh out loud moment of the episode. Seriously, who didn't fissure up at that?
